frequently asked questions
We provide a range of therapeutic services, including individual therapy for children, adolescents and adults. Our team of licensed therapists are dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and achieve emotional well-being.
Once we receive your inquiry, we’ll work with you to understand your preferences—whether you’d like telehealth or in-person sessions. We’ll also check your insurance coverage (we accept BCBS) and discuss your availability. After finding the right therapist for you, we’ll schedule your first intake session to get started.
We offer in-person and telehealth sessions. We can also be flexible between formats. At times, our in-person clients may find the need to switch to telehealth. For minors under 10, we do not recommend telehealth sessions. We believe that in-person sessions are more effective for this age group, as they allow the therapist to better engage with the child and observe their behavior.
You can schedule an appointment by contacting us via our website, phone, or email. One of our staff members will work with you to find a time that fits your schedule and connect you with the right therapist for your needs.
Your first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and begin understanding your goals. We’ll talk about what brings you to counseling, what you hope to gain, and any questions or concerns you have. It’s a collaborative, judgment-free space — there’s no pressure to have everything figured out. Our goal is to help you feel comfortable and supported from the start.
The length of counseling varies for each person. Some clients come for short-term support (6–12 sessions) focused on a specific concern, while others benefit from longer-term care. We’ll work together to determine what approach feels right for your needs and goals.
Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and trust. As progress is made, we may transition to biweekly or monthly appointments. Your counselor will collaborate with you to create a schedule that supports your goals and fits your life.
We support clients experiencing stress, anxiety, life transitions, emotional exhaustion, trauma, and depression. Our team also specializes in youth and adolescent wellness, mindfulness, stress management, emotional regulation, impulse control, and attention concerns.
Counseling can benefit anyone — not just those in crisis. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or ready to grow in new ways, therapy can provide support, insight, and tools to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
Yes. Confidentiality is a vital part of counseling. Everything discussed in session stays private, with a few legal exceptions (such as risk of harm to yourself or others, or suspected abuse). Your counselor will review these limits with you before you begin.
That’s completely okay. Many clients feel unsure at first. Your counselor will help guide the conversation and explore what’s most important to you at your own pace. There’s no “right” way to do therapy.
Parental involvement is required during the initial intake session. After that, parental involvement depends on the age of the child and the reason for counseling. For younger children, parent sessions may be included to support growth at home. For teens, we balance collaboration with respecting the teen’s privacy, so they feel safe to open up in therapy.
You can explain therapy as a place to talk, learn, and grow. It is not a punishment or something to fix them. You might say, “Everyone needs support sometimes, and therapy is a safe space where you can share what’s on your mind and learn new ways to handle things.”
That’s very common! We take time to build trust first. Therapists use creative, developmentally appropriate approaches (like play, art, or conversation) to help children and teens open up naturally over time.
We protect your child’s privacy while also keeping parents informed about progress and general themes. We don’t share specific details from sessions unless there’s a safety concern. This helps teens feel safe, supported, and respected.
You may notice small but meaningful changes — improved mood, clearer thinking, healthier boundaries, or more effective coping skills. We’ll regularly check in about your progress and adjust goals as needed.
That’s okay. Healing is a process, and progress often happens gradually. Your counselor will support you through each step and help you recognize the subtle shifts that lead to lasting growth.
Absolutely. Finding the right fit is essential for effective therapy. If you ever feel disconnected, we’ll help match you with another clinician who better meets your needs.
When you’re ready to conclude therapy, we’ll work together to review your growth and create a plan for continued wellness. Many clients choose occasional check-ins to maintain progress and balance.
