Experience
Tarik is a counselor-in-training completing his Master of Arts in Counseling at Northwestern University with a specialization in child and adolescent counseling. He also holds a Master of Science in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health from King’s College London, giving him a strong foundation in evidence-based practice, developmental psychology, and the neurobiology of mental health.
Before beginning his clinical work, Tarik built a diverse professional background spanning research, writing, training, and program development. His experience as a research associate and IT training manager sharpened his analytical skills, communication strengths, and ability to teach complex material clearly—qualities that now enrich his therapeutic work.
Unique Approach
Tarik’s therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and deeply client-centered. He integrates a range of modalities including person-centered therapy, CBT, mindfulness practices, and child-centered play therapy. With a calm and thoughtful presence, he meets clients where they are, helping them explore emotions, build self-awareness, and develop practical tools for everyday life.
He is passionate about supporting neurodiverse clients and has a particular interest in anxiety disorders, OCD, identity development, and emotional challenges in children and adolescents. Tarik approaches each session with curiosity, respect, and a commitment to multicultural sensitivity.
